Slot Machines: World Renowned
Germany: The operation of Slot Machines have spread to most all developed countries, especially Europe. Germany is proud of its native born sons who became noted inventors. Consequently, when the city fathers of Charles Fey's hometown in western Bavaria found out that the inventor of the slot machine was born in their city, they decided to erect a plaque. The dedication ceremony took place in October of 1997.
The Mayor of Vohringen. presents Marshall Fey and his wife, Shirley, with replica of the Charles Fey plaque placed on a wall of the schoolhouse in which he was born. The plaque, outlined with a wreath, features a bronze medallion depicting the original Fey Liberty Bell slot. The mayor's secretary holds an umbrella over his head to protect him from a light drizzle.

The complete history of Charlie Fey and his inventions is detailed in Slot Machines: America's Favorite Gaming Device
