Poker Slot Machines Made in San Francisco
 There were a number of poker machine manufacturers filling the city's demand to supply the more than 3,000 popular poker slots operating during peak years. An attendant would verify the winning combinations on the machine and then hand pay the player with trade checks that were supposedly exchanged for cigars, drinks or merchandise, but usually the pay was cash.
1896 Monarch BROWNIE Made in 1896, it is one of the first known poker slots made in San Francisco.  1897 Royal PERFECTION Made by the Royal Card Co., had the typical payout of 1 to 100 cigars or drinks.

 1897 RELIANCE
A cigar large distributorship and a Police Commissioner controlled Reliance Novelty,
6-WAY PAYING TELLER
Made by Charles Fey in 1897, the player could insert up to six coins on six different bets.
 1902 ROYAL TRADER
Made by Royal Novelty, a player could also bet up to 30 cents on selected bets.
 1901 Fey DRAW POKER
This was the first machine in which a player could hold cards and take a second spin.
