Fey's first first multi-coin
slot was a 5-coin multiplier built in 1959. It was a Mills Hi
Top. with the original mech. A solenoid was used to activate
the slides for the multiple wins. There was still
no factory built multipliers in 1962, the year he made an 8 coin
multiplier. The first 5 coins multiplied all pays; the 6th coin
paid $5 on 3 cherries or 3 pears; the 7th coin paid $5 on 3 plums
or 3 bells and the 8th coin doubled the four regular jackpots. The components for the multiple pay functions
board, above, and the single coin slicer, below, that replaced
the slides came from a 1946 Bally DRAW BELL ,purchased for $10.
The 8-coin conversion was on a 1962 Mills COMPACT. |
The
first 1968 Mills GAMBLER produced, was given to the Liberty Belle
in exchange for the concept and assistance in building their
first multiple coin slot. The Mills version, using the same 8-coin
play, was upgraded with a hopper. and transistor technology.
This slot was operated at the Liberty Belle Saloon for about
