Prohibition ended and a new moral age began. One of the major targets of reform were the Slot Machines: Although raids began to increase after repeal in 1933, slots were still able to operate in many territories. |
Slots were still operating in the 1940s in some areas. Their operation was very difficult to stop. In 1950 California passed a law, to be enforced in July of that year, that stipulated a $500 fine for each slot in one's possession, Six months later Congress passed the national Johnson Act that prohibited interstate shipments into illegal states. That left Nevada the only legal state to sell to. |
